How do you play Hit The Target?

A number sits on the screen: "300 goals". You both write ONE name AT THE SAME TIME, and the closer your CAREER total lands to the target the better. How many names you get varies by match (1 to 5). Half the matches also carry a TRAIT - "a BRAZILIAN with 300 goals" - and then only players with that trait can be entered. The numbers stay HIDDEN all match; the maths happens at the end, when both squads open at once. You see that your rival has written, never what - the name opens when the slot closes, and you can both write the same one. The metric can be goals, appearances, market value, assists or (rarely) yellow/red cards.

Every question and clue is generated from real records in the Derby Duel database. Real match results, squads and season statistics collected from the leagues and cups of 6 countries - no value is estimated, and nothing that is not in the source turns up in the game.

Tips for Hit The Target

  • First check how many names you pick. With one name you need a star close to the target; with five, several mid-sized careers that share the load are safer.
  • Half the matches add a restriction and only players with that trait can be named. Narrow the pool in your head before you type.
  • Numbers are career totals and stay hidden until the end. The smaller gap wins: going over the target counts the same as falling short.

A player close to your rating. Matchmaking happens on the server and the server also referees the match: both sides see the same board and the same clock.
