How do you play Guess The Footballer?

Turn based · 3 guesses · 20s a turn

There is a hidden player and no field is given away. You guess in turns on a SHARED board: both of you see the five columns (league, nationality, position, age, value) each guess opens. A matching column takes the guesser's colour and scores them a point. A turn lasts 20 seconds and passing spends a guess too.

Step by step

  1. Find the hidden player up top.
  2. Follow the clues across these 5 traits.
  3. Write a name and GUESS!

How do you win Guess The Footballer?

Five columns, five points: whoever first matches a field takes that column, and whoever finds the hidden player takes all the rest. Most points wins.

Matchmaking decides which game you play; both players get the same one.

Where the questions come from

Every question and clue is generated from real records in the Derby Duel database. Real match results, squads and season statistics collected from the leagues and cups of 6 countries - no value is estimated, and nothing that is not in the source turns up in the game.

Tips for Guess The Footballer

  • The board is shared: columns revealed by your opponent's guess are your information too. Retrying a field they already hit wastes a guess.
  • Each column is one point and goes to whoever hits it first. Even without finding the hidden player, catching the league, nationality or position early wins points.
  • You get three guesses and passing also costs one. A first guess made to gather information is worth more than a random last one.
